Hello!
We are Ioannis and Majka, founders of Misprint in Wrocław, Poland.
Although each one of us has their own story, our different paths and experiences brought us together to build a place that book, paper, and print coincide and intertwine – a place to create, share knowledge and bring our passion to life.
We are professional printmakers and book artists with long experience and achievements in the world of art. We are both PhD candidates and we are working as printmaking technicians at Geppert Academy of Fine Art and Design in Wroclaw.
Kalimera, I am Ioannis. I was born in Athens, Greece. After finishing my Master in Art in Thessaloniki, I moved to Wroclaw. I always remember growing up in a house full of many kinds of books. To me, the materiality and the physical presence of prints and books is a unique feeling. This was my inspiration to start experimenting with creating my own books, sometimes with my artworks as an integral part of them. Eventually, books became a part of my process, my work, my everyday life.
Cześć! Majka here. In my family, book always played an important role. My grandfather worked in a bookstore in Poznań and my mom finished technical school with specialization of bookbinding and typesetting, so I can say I have books, paper and prints in my DNA. I did my practice in Evangelia Biza bindery in Athens, Greece. My paper making methods I polished with Alison Newmann in Pulp, papermaking studio in Glasgow, Scotland. I’m passionate about books, paper and prints, so I keep learning and teaching others.
