Silkscreen Workshop
Silkscreen is popular with artists because it allows them to create multi-colored and multi-layered images with high precision and repeatability.
During the workshop, you will create your own screen prints from scratch! With the help of a squeegee, you will hand print your own edition on paper, but also on bags, T-shirts, or other materials. Together we will go through the entire process from preparing the design and screen to print.
You can bring some sketches with you or design your work during the workshop. We will help you turn your sketches or photos into prints, and guide you through the design process. You can also experiment with different styles and techniques to create your own unique prints. You can make prints with different colors, effects, and styles.
In this workshop, you will learn how to:
- Make or choose a design for silkscreen and print or draw it on a film.
- Use light and emulsion to make a stencil on the screen.
- Set up your screen, ink, and surface, and print your design with a squeegee. You will also learn how to print on paper and fabric, and how to clean and reuse your screen.
This workshop consists of 2.5-hour sessions, once per week for the duration of three weeks (total of 3 sessions). You will work on your own silkscreen projects, with the guidance and support of Majka and Ioannis. You will also have access to our studio, where you will find all the tools and materials you need.
We look forward to seeing you at our studio and helping you explore the art of silkscreen printing.
